Elyse Friedman

Elyse Friedman has published two novels—Then Again, which was a finalist for the Trillium Award, and Waking Beauty—and a poetry collection, Know Your Monkey. Her short story, “The Soother” won the Gold National Magazine Award for fiction in 2006 and is included in her new collection, Long Story Short (Anansi). The National Post calls the new pieces “intensely readable, hilarious, perverse.” The Georgia Straight calls the collection “willfully bent, instinctually witty, and ultimately rather melancholy.” Elyse Friedman was born in Toronto, where she is currently raising her son, writing a new novel, and working on several screenplays.
