Endre Farkas

Endre Farkas was born in Hajdunánás, Hungary in 1948 in the shadow of the holocaust. He escaped with his parents during the 1956 Hungarian uprising, and settled in Montreal, where he continues to live and work. He was one of the Véhicule poets, Montreal’s experimental “Group of Seven,” in the 1970s and 80s. To date, he has published nine books of poetry, the most recent being quotidian fever: New and Selected Poems (The Muses Company 2007). He has also published several plays, and is exploring collaborative performance work with poet Carolyn Marie Souaid. His work appears in translation in half a dozen languages.
