Lauren Carter

Lauren Carter is an award-winning writer and former Ontarian living in St. Andrews, Manitoba. Her debut poetry collection, Lichen Bright, was long-listed for the ReLit Award and the poem “Island Clearances” won the Room poetry contest in 2014. Her first novel, Swarm, was voted onto the CBC Canada Reads long list and her prose has been anthologized in Best Canadian Stories. This year sees two publications: her second poetry collection, Following Sea (Turnstone), explores heritage and family; her second novel, This Has Nothing to Do with You (Freehand), tells the story of a young woman grappling with the reality that her mother murdered her father and her father’s girlfriend.
