Lee Maracle

Lee Maracle is a member of the Stó:lo Nation of British Columbia, and a celebrated author, poet, educator, storyteller and performing artist. One of the first aboriginal writers to publish in Canada, she’s produced many books since the early 70s, including Bobbi Lee: Indian Rebel, Daughters are Forever, Ravensong, Bent Box, and First Wives’ Club: Coast Salish Style (Theytus). Maracle is one of the founders of the En’owkin International School of Writing in Penticton, BC, and Cultural Director of the Centre for Indigenous Theatre in Toronto. Her grandfather was the renowned Chief Dan George; she and her daughter, Columpa Bobb, carry on a family tradition of cultural advocacy. Maracle lives in Toronto.
