Margaret Sweatman

Margaret Sweatman is a Winnipeg novelist, playwright, and lyricist. She has published three novels: Fox; Sam and Angie; and When Alice Lay Down with Peter. Her work has garnered numerous awards, including two McNally Robinson Manitoba Book of the Year Awards, the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize, the Margaret Laurence Award for Fiction, the Sunburst Award for Canadian Literature of the Fantastic, and the Carol Shields Award. She has also won a Genie for a song she co-wrote with her husband Glenn Buhr. Her new novel, The Players (Goose Lane), is a dark historical comedy set in the 17th century.
