Martha Brooks

Martha Brooks is an award-winning novelist, playwright and jazz singer who grew up on the grounds of the now defunct Manitoba Sanitorium, an experience that inspired her novel Mistik Lake. Her work has garnered many honors, including the Canadian Library Association Young Adult Book of the Year three times, as well as the Ruth Schwartz Award, the Mr. Christie’s Book Award, the Governor General’s Award, the McNally Robinson Book for Young People Award, and the Vicky Metcalf Award for her contributions to YA literature. Her newest book is Letters To Brian (Turnstone). Brooks lives in Winnipeg.
