Owain Nicholson

Owain Nicholson grew up in Winnipeg, and studied both creative writing and archaeology at the University of Victoria. A working archaeologist, Nicholson sees history, ancestry, nature, and people at the center of both practices, and his poems often use the dig site as a rich source of image and metaphor. He has published his work in several journals. This year, his poem “Hunter (II)” won the Prairie Fire poetry contest, and he receives the Banff Centre Bliss Carman
Award at the Poetry Bash. Nicholson now lives in the Kootenay region of BC
