David Arnason

Born in Gimli, David Arnason’s Icelandic heritage is a force in much of his writing. A prolific and witty writer of fiction, poetry, and criticism, his many titles include Skrag, The Dragon and the Dry Goods Princess, and King Jerry, which was nominated for a Stephen Leacock Medal. The Imagined City: A Literary History Of Winnipeg, co-edited with Mhari Mackintosh, won both the Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award and the Mary Scorer Book Award. Turnstone, a press he helped found in 1976, has just released his third novel, Baldur’s Song. Arnason has taught at the University of Manitoba since 1972, and he lives now in Gimli.
