John K Samson

John K Samson is the singer and songwriter for the venerated indie rock outfit, The Weakerthans, and in 2012, he released his first solo album, Provincial. His poetry and prose have appeared in Matrix Magazine, Geist, The Believer, and Post Prairie: An Anthology of New Poetry. Lyrics and Poems, 1997-2012 (Arbeiter Ring) demonstrates the eloquence that characterizes his songwriting and his writing for the page. He lives in Winnipeg, where he’s also the co-founder and managing editor of Arbeiter Ring Publishing. This fall, he and his partner, Christine Fellows, are artists-in-residence at the Centre for Creative Writing and Oral Culture at the University of Manitoba.
