Richard Van Camp

Storyteller and best-selling author Richard Van Camp was born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, and is a member of the Dogrib (Tlicho) Dene Nation. His new picture book We Sang You Home (Orca Books), illustrated by Julie Flett, captures the wonder of new parents. His most recent story collections include Night Moves (Great Plains) and A Blanket of Butterflies (Highwater). This year also sees the twentieth anniversary edition of his breakthrough novel The Lesser Blessed (Douglas & McIntyre), a powerful and darkly funny coming-of-age story about an Indigenous teenager coping with a painful past and finding his place in a stressful modern world. Van Camp lives in Edmonton.
