Uma Parameswaran

Uma Parameswaran was born in Madras, India, and raised in Jabalpur. She completed her undergraduate studies at Jabalpur University, received an MA in English from Napgur Univeristy, an MA in Creative Writing from Indiana University, and a PhD in English from Michigan State University. She immigrated to Canada in 1966. She is a retired professor of English at the University of Winnipeg and has a special interest in South Asian Canadian literature. Among her books are the story collection What Was Always Hers, the novel Mangoes on the Maple Tree, and the poetry collection Sisters at the Well. Her most recent book is Maru and the Maple Leaf (Larkuma). Uma Parameswaran lives in Winnipeg.
