Waubgeshig Rice

Waubgeshig Rice is a broadcast journalist and writer. He grew up in Wasauksing, an Anishinaabe community on the shores of Georgian Bay. His articles, essays and columns have been published in national newspapers and magazines, and as a television journalist he has filed reports from across Canada. His debut novel, Midnight Sweatlodge (Theytus), offers a textured portrait of contemporary aboriginal life, both the solid ground of traditional practices and the importance of full engagement in the wider world. Rice spent several years in Winnipeg, and now lives and works in Ottawa.
